How does a Segway works?

The Segway is a two-wheeled, self-balancing, battery-powered electric vehicle that use computers, sensors, and electric motors in the base of the Segway keep the device upright when powered on with balancing enabled.

When you lean foward, the sensors activate the motors to get the wheels moving in order to keep you on your the center of gravity. The same way you put your feet foward to not fall when you walk.  For instance, when you lean backwards you will move backwards until the center of gratvity is reached again, that is, when you stop leaning neither backwards or fowards.

How does is stop? If you move forward, (hence leaning forwards), you lean gently back until to point of gravity is reached again.   It seems complicated at first on theory but once you try it, the segway is using a whole system that already exist in our brains to keep us moving. That’s why after just a couple of minutes it feels so intuitive and second nature, almost is if we’ve been doing Segway since our young age.

In order to turn we use the whole handlebar, wich swicht right and left from his axe at the bottom moving from the bottom to the top like an inverse pendulum in reverse. You move the whole handlebar with your both hands to the right, the segway moves to the right in viceversa.

The segway just requires you to be aware of your surroundings just as any other vechicle. It is almost imposible to fall of a Segway for no intended reason, the segway will always keep you in balance without requering you to do any effort at all. Our segways are checked everyday after workday and our routes are designed and aproved by the council of our city to keep both the pedestrians on the walksides and segway riders safe.
